Frequently Asked Questions pertaining to the CVCS Excellence Fund

The CVCS Excellence Fund is the vehicle to enable our ability to enhance our mission and enrich the student experience at our school. Through our families’ and friends’ generosity, the money raised each year has an immediate impact on our students and staff both in and outside the classroom.  It adds unrestricted funds where budgeted initiatives end and opportunities arise. As our students and teachers strive towards their individual potential, it allows us to say “YES” to opportunities, assets, or technology updates as they present themselves.

Annual giving further enhances our students' academic and spiritual lives by providing the best practices in teaching, state-of-the-art technology, enhanced safety and security, athletic improvements, and cutting-edge programs. Your gift makes a difference!

CVCS Excellence Fund provides consistent unrestricted income through which we can make the best decisions for our students, staff, programs, and facilities as opportunities arise to best support our mission.  The Year-End Giving campaign is our final effort to meet specific initiatives that will be completed if we reach the giving goal in that campaign. Gifts given during year-end giving will count as participating in the CVCS Excellence Fund.

For a gift to be considered an annual contribution to CVCS Excellence Fund, it must be made between January 1 and Dec 31 in that calendar year. We encourage everyone to be a part of CVCS’s Annual “Show the Love” Giving days in February.

There is no expectation, but we ask each person to prayerfully consider their gifting level. All of our gifts come together to be a part of something greater than any one of us could do alone.

YES!  The goal is a very high participation rate in MISSIONAL GIVING from our families, staff, board, and alumni.  It is also considered missional giving by philanthropic entities considering our mission for their generosity.  The more people participate in our annual fund, the more major donors see our collective belief in our mission from those benefitting from it.

Missional Giving indicates your belief in what CVCS does with their students.  It is giving when you don't expect to receive anything in return, but want to support the advancement of the mission.

Yes, we would love for every family to participate in the CVCS Excellence Fund. It doesn’t matter how much you donate–the important thing is that we support the mission together as a community.

No, sponsorships benefit the business they represent as advertising and, therefore, are not considered missional giving.

No, the ticket fees pay for the event, but do not provide resources for the CVCS Excellent Fund.

No, giving an item to a basket does not guarantee that we can turn it into funds we can direct toward students, staff, facilities, or programs.  We also cannot accurately assess the value of some items in many cases.  Therefore, we do not count these toward an annual fund contribution. However,  we are super grateful for the help and could not have the gala success we do without these generous gifts.  We can give you a donation receipt you can write off for your business based on the fair market value of the item.

No. The Annual Giving program is separate from the Auction that occurs in the spring and the Golf Scramble that occurs in the Fall. Both raise money for the school but are distinct philanthropic efforts. Funds raised at those events go towards specific initiatives or projects as spelled out during those events.

No, those funds do not give the school any say in how to allocate those funds to best serve the mission of the school.  They are like giving a gift directly to a friend. Those donations do not count towards your Idaho Educational Tax Credit either.

Yes, as long as it is dated by midnight on Dec. 31st

Yes, they will count as a deduction on your state and federal income tax AND they will generate a tax CREDIT under the Idaho Educational Tax Credit.  It's a way to direct the social benefit of your tax dollars rather than letting the government determine where to invest your money. Consult your tax specialist to learn how to maximize this tax credit.  Or learn more here - VIDEO

No, it's important for each family, staff, board member, and alumni to consider a gift, no matter the size.  It's the participation of a high percentage of our constituents that screams to those looking at how much we believe in the mission of CVCS.

Yes. Many employers will match your gift to CVCS. Check the list of corporations that double your impact or ask your company about their policies to support your philanthropy. Corporate matching doubles your gift and thus doubles its effects at CVCS.

All gifts are greatly appreciated and make a difference! We recognize donors annually by name in the CVCS Legacy Gala and Year End report. If you wish to give anonymously, please let us know, and will honor that upon request.

The Legacy Guild VIP Event is an elegant celebration that is a thank you to those who donate or pledge $2,500 or more to CVCS Excellence Fund by Oct 1st of that giving year. This intimate gathering begins with the CVCS Choir singing Christmas carols in the Auditorium, followed by an elegant dinner and fellowship with the Leadership and School Board.

CVCS will eventually have two endowments.  The New Campus endowment and the Excellence Endowment.  Both Funds are under the responsibility of the CVCS Endowment Committee. To make a gift to either endowment please contact the CVCS Development team - Wayde Hamby. wayde.hamby@cvcsonline.org
